A New Chapter
And so we got a wakeup call and gained clarity: We started to see that our road was headed into a dead end. Our business failed to grow, our health declined and we were completely drained and stressed out from always moving around.
10 years of living on the go had caught up with us. So what we did is what we do best. We decided to break away from our current reality, and head into a different one. It was time for stability, roots and staying put. And believe it or not, for the first time since we started being nomads we were actually excited about the idea of building a more conventional life! Because this would mean we could choose wherever we wanted to stay. It would mean we could cultivate friendships and have community. It would mean that we could focus on improving our health and get the medical attention that we needed.
In the beginning Vanlife was a dream come true, but we eventually hit bumps, and these got harder and harder to overcome. And so the dream slowly faded and a different one came in its place. Nonetheless, we don’t regret anything. We enjoyed our times on the road, we enjoyed building the van, we enjoyed following our dreams. But sometimes dreams change and that is okay. We have to follow what we long for NOW
